Stating the obvious but it does bear repeating

There is no substitute for Mom's home cooking. The Thanksgiving ham was delicious. 

And as a nice bonus my freezer is full of good eats for the next couple of weeks or so.

As a not so nice bonus, brace yourselves, winter is coming.

And after a summer where only five days had temperatures over 25 degrees and three times as much rain as normal (the autumn is also breaking rain records) I _really_ don't look forward to the winter.

Ouch. That sounds like a really poor summer for getting out and about. Here's hoping next year is better for you, weather and health wise.
