You know when you read a post and go "Oops!"?

Well I managed to finally get some more guitar PICKS, also known as the things you pluck the strings with, today at lunch. Which is what I needed instead of PICK-UPS, which are the electro magnets in an electric guitar that turn the string vibrations into an electrical signal for the amplifier to use. Similar words, vastly different items and amounts of money I'd be spending. I'd never say never but I'm not sure I want to swap mine out right now.

Oh well, who knows? Maybe someday.

Changing pickups is a hit-and-miss move, I think. You can research how the ones you think you want sound, but then they'll sound different on your guitar, through your amp, with your fingers on the strings.

I swapped out the muddy but gutsy Epiphone p/u's in my old Sheraton II for a pair of Kent Armstrong vintage p/u's. They were too classy, had no personality and I wish I'd gone for a pair of Gibson Burstbuckers. But then, who's to say how they would have sounded? It was just not a great guitar. I sold it and do not miss it.

That is true. One never knows how its all going to go. Eventually my main axe will probably need a new bridge assembly due to all the corrosion my sweat has wrought on the low E and A string saddles. If I do then the zinc block will get upgraded to something nicer like steel or brass. If I go that route then it might be worth discussing pickup ideas.
