Today it was over 100 degrees Fahrenheit with the Humidex and its almost October

I really have nothing to add to that other than to thank my lucky stars that climate change is a hoax. I mean geeesh. This is brutal. And also not normal weather for this time of year.  :-/

Ice cream!

Hey it doesn't keep me from melting into a sweaty puddle in my apartment, but it does help cool me down a bit.

Ah, Spring is in the air!

After all, nothing says "Summer" like a snowstorm in May!

*grumble*

May the Fourth be with you, everyone!

Yeah, I know. It's an absolutely ridiculous made up holiday but if it brings anyone joy and happiness, than it's all good!

And in weather news my apartment's temperature is reminding me of Chennai. Are we also going to get a hot summer to go with that rather nasty winter? Me has to wonder if it be so.

It never rains but it....snows?

So far we've had three days of torrential rain, then torrential freezing rain/hail, and now we are into big wet sloppy snowflakes. I really felt we were in for a big winter this year, but this is still a bit ahead of schedule.

And people wonder why our Halloween costumes usually incorporate a parka in the design. Oh well, at least its good for the water table.

Stating the obvious but it does bear repeating

There is no substitute for Mom's home cooking. The Thanksgiving ham was delicious.

And as a nice bonus my freezer is full of good eats for the next couple of weeks or so.

As a not so nice bonus, brace yourselves, winter is coming.

I think the gales of November will come early this year

There was snow mixed into the rain today. With the way the leaves are falling early I think this could be a harsh winter.

And in other words, Happy Thanksgiving!

Status Report

It's hot. I'm melting. No change in temperature expected anytime soon.

I've got multiple fans going but all they do is just blow hot air around. They don't cool anything.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Let it stop. Please.

Note to Mother Nature. Winter is over. Adjust behaviour accordingly, now.

What a glorious day today

I'm back from my Mom's place and am currently enjoying near sweater weather here. It's so nice in fact I've got all the windows open to air out the place. Bring the Spring, I say!

In other news I've got nothing April Fools wise. Sorry to disappoint, everyone.

Have a good day!

Spring was in the air today

When I was coming back from a job interview today I heard the sweet sound of the one bird that always foretells spring here.

Yes people the CL-415s are in the air. Winter's over! Bring on the forest fire season!

Casualties of nature

Apparently not everyone survived that huge snowstorm that shut down Sarnia. One unfortunate person was found frozen to death in a field.

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/windsor/story/2010/12/16/wdr-sarnia-thursday.html

As the article says they aren't sure if he was stuck and trying to escape or just trying to help others. That being said if you are in an area with winter conditions make sure you have

- two bags of kitty litter in your trunk
-  a small shovel
-  a sleeping bag or really warm blanket
 - a candle w/matchs and/or lighter
-  some granola or chocolate bars
-  some bottled water
- gloves, tuque, and a scarf

And if you do get stranded and you can't see a house or building you can go to for God's sake don't leave your car. Just because you can see lights doesn't mean its shelter. At night or in a heavy snowstorm you won't be able to identify what's making the light if its far away.

Lastly, be careful running your engine if you end up trapped in drifts. Clogged exhaust pipes cause CO poisoning.

Condolences to the family. RIP.
