Sometimes life is just not fair. Not only did I miss voting but even if I had I'd have had to chose between The Polka Dot Door and Mr. Dress-up in the children's show division. That's like chosing which of your feet you're going to keep and which one you're going to feed to a bear. That's not cool, man. Not cool at all :-(
Ok, ok. All silliness aside I have to say looking back the CBC and TVOntario had some pretty legitimate programming back when we only got five channels on the rabbit ears and the remote was me turning the dial because my grandparents told me to. Granted some of it is stuff you had to grow up on to appreciate but some is both timeless and universal. Like this, a nice animation of a story 99% of all Canadian school children read growing up about a nightmare 100% of all sports fans the world over DREAD. :-)
Here's The National Film Board of Canada's animation of Roch Carrier's "The Sweater" narrated by Mr. Carrier himself.
Enjoy!
