I think I'll have to check out the Cowboy Junkies most recent albums. The whole song cycle/intertwined albums idea sounds interesting. But here's one in honour of winter pulling a zombie apocalypse and refusing to die like its supposed to. Here's "Fuck, I hate the cold" live!

Actually, the whole concert is pretty good. CBC does do some pretty good ones, so they are always worth checking out. That link is here:

This video just underscores the fact we should be throwing our resources into these projects, instead of wrecking our environment and figuring out better and more ingenious ways to exploit and kill each other. Forty some years after going to the moon this type of video really shouldn't be extraordinary, it should be common place.
Music of the spheres
Feb. 18th, 2013 02:53 amSomehow I'm thinking
padawansguide is going to like this. It's ISS Commander Chris Hadfield and the Barenaked Ladies literally getting out of this world. :-)
Hmmm. Why won't it embed?
Why won't it embed?
Aw screw it. Edited to add links. LJ and CBC.ca don't want to play nice today. Grrrr.
The song, video, article, and sheet music can be found here: http://music.cbc.ca/#/blogs/2013/2/Space-jam-watch-the-premiere-of-ISS-Is-Somebody-Singing

For all my space loving friends out there
Jan. 29th, 2013 11:38 amI found this on the BBC's website and thought the final quote to be rather poetic and beautiful:
"You've now reached the outer edges of our own solar system, a distance of more than 21 billion kilometres. It would take you 22 million years of continuous scrolling on this scale to get to the farthest regions of the observable Universe, another 435 sextillion kilometers (435 followed by 21 zeros, or 46 billion light years) away. We think we'll stop here. Live long and prosper."
If interested the link is here. It makes for some fascinating scrolling. http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20120321-how-big-is-space

Last night my friend
telemeister and I stumbled independently upon the same groovy guitarist demoing some sweet vintage guitars. I can't say it any better than him, so here's his quote:
"He clearly loves to play, and communicates the joy of it.
Also, he bloody rips."
That he does. That he does.
Also, isn't this a sweet looking 1966 Gibson EDS-1275 6/12 doubleneck? :-)

She was correct. :-)
And like her, I have no idea how many takes something like this would take to get right. Enjoy!

Day 11 - A song from your favorite band
May. 15th, 2011 02:33 amI actually don't have a favourite band, I just have bands that are favourites of mine. So since I'm in the mood for some rock let's grab the lighters because it's power ballad time! Live from the Budokan with a short detour through Youtube here's Judas Priest reminding us that some things really are worth fighting for.
Now it's late and I need pizza. Stay good, World.

OK, first things first. This one is behind a cut because I could see this giving someone a seizure, so if you're epileptic or at risk for light triggered seizures just skip this one.
I'm not joking about this. Proceed at you're own risk.
Got to admit though that there was some seriously impressive planning behind this maniacal monstrosity but what does his local homeowner's association think? That's what I want to know!
( Craziest Christmas Light Show ever.... )
And for anyone who prefers their Christmas lights displays to be a tad less apocalyptic here's one to Peanuts theme:

More Christmas stuff
Dec. 18th, 2010 06:30 pmIt was warmer these past couple of days. For a while I was worried all our snow would melt and we'd have a green Christmas. Gotta love global warming.
Anyway here's a couple of more favourites. First up a recent classic from Bing and Bowie:
And then we get Ian Anderson and crew with some holiday cheer Jethro Tull style:
Have a great Saturday night all!
