We've been so lucky to avoid that type of thing here. Our most memorable Prime Minister security risk in the past two decades was when a protester got through the security detail for our prime minister. Thankfully he wasn't armed and our PM was able to grab him by the throat (literally) before throwing him to the Mounties. As you've said though that type of threatening and dangerous behaviour is never justified. We have ballot boxes and mature democracies. Shooting political figures is just terrorism, plain and simple, no matter what side the person is one.
