...especially since retiring my CRT monitor in favour of a much larger LCD. Seriously, the eyestrain I was feeling off of that thing had me debating if my gatorade had been spiked with acid, or if I was just having a stroke. Needless to say buying the monitor is money well spent.

In other news I've been organizing my iTunes library a bit, mainly by genre, since I find having 3000+ songs listed as "Rock"* to be a less than ideal situation when trying to pick the right music for the mood. While I really like both Fairport Convention and the Scorpions their tunes don't always mix well, if you know what I mean. Plus I get to unleash my inner musical history geek and group things together in ways that tell a story of how certain artists relate to each other, which is quite fun, in a nerdy sort of way.

And back to your regularly scheduled programming.

*Rinse and repeat in other genres like "Country", "Classical", "Metal" and others and you can see why I want to do this.

I know it's daft to categorise bands and artists, or anyone or anything for that matter - I certainly don't enjoy being pigeonholed myself, but then I've always been a nonconformist like that (he said, pigeonholing himself) - but in iTunes some bands and albums are very strangely classified. Two different albums by one artist will be differently classified. I go in there and change them. And some of the classifications seem to have been made up in a moment of pique: "What the heck is this music?" "I dunno. Only three people out there listen to it. Make something up."

Three thousand songs? Caramba!
