It's a potentially very messy situation. The west has suddenly seen a chance to get rid of the the crazy old loon in charge of Libya... but I suspect the reality is that Gaddafi is in a much stronger position than the western press has been broadcasting and only direct intervention on behalf of mainly the US would actually remove him from power... which would be another Iraq situation. Which is not good for Libya, not good for us, in fact it would probably only be good for US oil business... so it'll probably happen.
