In the last month or so we've lost The Count, Neil Armstrong, and  Jon Lord of Deep Purple. Those are heros from just about every stage of my childhood and early adolesence.

Damn, I feel old, but at least all three of those lived to see a man walk on the moon. With the way space exploration seems to be going these days I know I won't. :-(

Yeah, I missed the Apollo program entirely. Hard to believe the first man on the moon is gone.

Yeah, me too. I wonder if it's telling some way that my generations big space moment was "The Teacher in Space" initiative. Considering how horrible that turned out, maybe that's what's lead us to subconsciously draw back from space exploration. Whether it is or not I really hope we get our mojo back soon before we completely trash this planet.

It's pretty sad he's gone, but here's hoping to us both seeing man walk on the moon with out own eyes in a few years.

Yeah, same.

I don't know that I'm real confident that we'll see people walking on planets anytime soon. Apollo took up maybe 4-5% of the national budget. Right now NASA is fighting over scraps. (half a percent of the budget) And being criticized for spending too much. :-/
