It's pronounced "Can-a-da". We do not pronounce it "Can-eh-dee-ah". I have no issues when recording artists or comedians, or people who honestly don't know pronounce it that way but you're a news media organization. If you say "that's how they pronounce it" and I know its wrong, it just provides me with a good reason to doubt your journalistic accuracy with other stories.

Well true and that's the same with other news organizations but I think what bothers me most is how they really went above and beyond to promote a stereotype of an entire country's people. No, I'm not talking about the whole bit being about how nice Canadians are (which is a stereotype, many of us are assholes), but rather how uninformed Americans are about the wider world. If this is how most Americans get their news and the news anchors can't even be bothered to state correct facts then is it any wonder people outside the US think the average citizen is hopelessly under informed about the world outside their borders?

Great job on the intellectual ambassadorship, CNN! Not. :-/

Keep this in mind when seeing stories of other places you are not as familiar with, because I guarantee you Canada is not the only place that is affected by their sloppy, lazy reporting.

That is very true but I also have to say the problem isn't restricted to CNN. It seems journalism isn't just getting more sloppy and lazy, its becoming a dying art. That doesn't bode well for maintaining an enlightened and well informed citizenry, in any country.

I find that rather depressing actually.

As do I.

It's bad enough that some news outlets are about sensationalism and faux conflict and laziness, but when you add news outlets that are all about spin and propaganda, it just makes for actual conflict based on false extremes.

You can find actual journalism, but it's not found by turning on the 6:00 news. Unfortunately, most people either don't care or are too busy trying to live their lives to look for it.
