I really don't. What do I say to 60,000 of my fellow citizens who have to flee their city? I hope its still there when you get back?

Woah....Just read up on this. How the heck did it get so out of hand? Causing 80,000 (According to the BBC) people to leave their homes is incomprehensible to me.

It's hot, it's dry, there's a lot of wind and Alberta is a very flat province with not much to stop a wildfire that's gotten out of hand. Once those things get any sort of momentum they can be very very hard to stop. :(

They've got people sheltering hundreds of kilometres south in places like Edmonton and C-130s flying food to those who had to go north and shelter in oil worker camps. Any way you slice it it could be Canada's disaster of the year. Which in a ghoulish sort of way I hope it is. I'd hate to see something worse.
