Why does anyone need to take their guns to Taco Bell? The foods already been killed, cleaned and cooked.

Taco rage: Man upset at burrito price rise fires shots

Jim Forsyth
SAN ANTONIO (Reuters) - A Taco Bell drive-through customer who became enraged because of a price increase on Beefy Crunch Burritos fired a BB gun through the window at a manager on Sunday, police said.

No one was hurt from the shots fired by the man, who also waved a pistol and an assault rifle in the parking lot, Police Sergeant Chris Benavides said.

As the restaurant's employees and customers hit the floor, the manager called police, and when officers arrived, the angry patron fired several shots at the police cars, Benavides said.

The man then barricaded himself inside a nearby motel room, sparking a standoff that lasted until police lobbed tear gas inside and the man surrendered.

Benavides said the burritos had been sold for 99 cents each as a promotion, but the man was apparently angry that the promotion had ended, and the price had gone up to $1.49.

The name of the 'taco rage' suspect has not been released because he had not yet been formally charged early Monday. Benavides said that the man will be charged with three counts of attempted capital murder, and that additional charges are possible.

The man never did get his burritos.

That makes no sense on so many counts. BB gun? Seriously? 0.o

BB gun, pistol, assault rifle...this guy's car was a rolling armory by the sounds of it. I mean seriously an assault rifle? Who needs an assault rifle to get a taco, other than Michael Douglas?

Well, I understand carrying the guns around, to an extent, especially for more rural folk (though I have no idea if he's actually rural). An assault rifle seems slightly over the top, but maybe he just got in from hunting hogs. :p In that case, though, still - what's with the BB gun?

Maybe he needed some self defence against mosquitoes? Hey, don't laugh! If it's on drugs it could have the strength of ten mosquitoes. ;-p

Regarding the assault rifle I'd like to know exactly what he was carrying before commenting further (because yes, some people have no idea what the difference is between a hunting and an assault rifle. Some bolt action rifles do have small clips after all), although if he was walking around with an AK-47 or M-16 style weapon that leaves me wondering how tough these hogs are. Wouldn't a 30-30, 30-06, or 308 rifle be sufficient? I mean seriously if that's not enough fire power for a large feral pig than I want the A-10s called in. Go for full hog vs Warthog action, I say. :-)

If only mosquitoes could be vanquished so easily!

Yep, I know enough and am around enough varieties of rifles to keep fairly quiet about anything but what I do know. But hogs are a real problem; they're not game animals, it's open season. Not sure how necessary heavy firepower is, but they're fierce and nasty and it's not something to take an unnecessary chance on. It's also honestly a good opportunity to live-fire some more interesting weapons. I know of some WWII reenactors, actually, who set up and ambushed some hogs with a BAR. And then they waited, and when the rest of the hogs came back to eat the bodies, they opened up again.

A BAR? Wow. Part of me is thinking "How interesting from a historical point of view!" while the other part is slapping my forehead at the amount of overkill that would be.

Heh, overkill is kind of the point! I mean, the object is to get rid of as many hogs as possible. And when you've already got this mostly-good BAR sitting around, and not many ways to live fire it except by paying a huge amount at a range, hog hunting seems a reasonable alternative. :p

I doubt I'd want any part of a burrito so puny that they charge a mere $1.49 for it. He ought to have gone to a Mexican market and got one of girth and vigour. Much better value, and he could have left his guns in his car. What a plonker.

I rarely eat at Taco Bell so I cannot comment on the true of their burritos but I think its safe to say he definately has some anger and overreaction issues.
